Aims & Scope
The Virginia Journal of Public Administration is a refereed journal with a focus on issues relating to the Commonwealth of Virginia. The journal publishes research articles on all facets of public administration, public policy, and public management related to Virginia or conducted by scholars within the state. The editors are especially interested in papers that deal with major administrative challenges facing the Commonwealth and its communities.
The mission of the Virginia Journal of Public Administration is to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia and its communities through the publication of cutting edge theoretical and practical research in public administration and policy.
Aims & Objectives
The journal has four core objectives:
- To provide a resource for scholars and practitioners of public service in the Commonwealth of Virginia, contributing to both knowledge about Virginia and evidence-based support for government decision-making;
- To stimulate scholarly and practitioner dialogue in public administration, public management, public organization theory and policy analysis;
- To encourage critical and comparative analysis of challenges facing contemporary systems of governing; and,
- To publish theoretically and empirically rigorous research on topics of broad and vivid current interest.
The Virginia Journal of Public Administration is published by the School of Public Service at Old Dominion University. The journal is dedicated to advancing the quality of administration and governance in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Public administration is a field of practice, and as practitioners and scholars, we aim to engage in discussion that seek to strengthen our state and its local communities.
Book Reviews
The Book Reviews section discusses important books that address critical issues faced by the Commonwealth of Virginia and its local communities related to public administration, public management, and policy analysis. We look for relevant books and capable reviewers across all disciplines.
Peer Review Policy
All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors-in-Chief, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent and anonymous expert referees. All peer reviews are conducted using a double-blind process.
